‘Proverbs People’ are character workbooks containing stories based on verses from the book of Proverbs. It includes quiz’, crosswords, posters, scripture memorisation etc for younger children of around 5-10. But I really hesitate to put ages to things because adults would also benefit from it – because it is the Word – but the maturity level is around that age bracket.
To give you a little idea of how the book works, you start with a story, say for example about righteousness. It will then take a proverb and have a little quiz’ centred around a story about righteousness. While this is being read the child can colour in a little poster to stick on their wall. For example, in the book there is a poster of a Lion with the verse “The righteous are as bold as a lion, Proverbs 28:1” underneath it.
In some ways these books are an introduction to Picture Smart Bible studies (which are shared in another clip). Moms are always asking, “What can I use for bible study for my younger children?” Well, this would be it as you could start with Proverbs People before the children are at an age of being able to cope with Picture Smart.
There will be many questions which will come up as a result of the proverb that you’re teaching and many little stories that are applicable to this young age bracket. You’ve also got application questions which suggest to “talk about these questions with your mother and father”. As you can see, it’s an interactive workbook on training and raising your children in the Word and focussing on character development with Proverbs being the main theme.
Book one and two apply the exact same principles, but both were created as there were simply too many proverbs to cover in a single book. We hope you find it useful!
“For he was wiser than all men…” 1 Kings 4:31
The Book of Proverbs was written by King Solomon to teach his sons. Solomon, who possessed “wisdom and very great discernment and breadth of mind, like the sand that is on the seashore!” Now you, too, can train your children in the Wisdom of Proverbs! We originally developed this study for our own children. I wanted a study that not only taught children information, but one that helped my children internalise the truths of Proverbs and apply them to their own lives. This resource is full of short-answer questions, example stories, fun quizzes, colouring pages, and application questions teaching 13 character types found in the Book of Proverbs.
