Learning the Word for Life ‘God your Real Dad’ Book 3 (Parent Manual)

Most of us want a memory bank of Scriptures, but we just cannot seem to make the words “stick.” This book is designed to help ease the “brain pain” of memorizing. And, most importantly, it allows everyone to experience the amazing power of God’s “implanted word” (which modifies behaviour. See Psalms 119:11 and James 1:21). God commanded all believers, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly” (Col. 3:16). With this book you will find Scripture memorization fun and easy.

Book Review

This is a scripture memorisation tool with a similar theme taught in ‘Picture Smart’. ‘Picture Smart’ pictures an entire book of the Bible, while ‘Learning the Word for Life’ is specifically about taking a particular scripture and memorising it by picturing it. To give you an idea of how this works, the parent book contains the complete picture that the student will draw, while the student book has only got the line drawing on it. The parent book also has explanation pages on the relevant Bible verse.

For example, one lesson starts with “The Lord bless you and keep you”. The child then draws that symbol in his student book. It continues “The Lord make His face shine upon you” and the child draws the next section in their book. The student becomes familiar with the different illustrated symbols and the beginning of the book shows what they mean. A cloud will represent ‘The Lord’, a Dove will represent ‘Peace’ and so on. By the end of the lesson, the child will have has drawn pictures that remind them of the following verse, “The Lord bless you and keep you, The Lord make His face shine upon you, the Lord lift up His countenance upon you and give you peace”. I had to share this specific verse as it is one of my mother’s favourites.

What is left in their minds is the coloured-in picture. When you ask your child about a scripture verse, the child remembers it through having done a picture. Using what they’ve drawn links the two together, which helps with scripture memorisation.

Book One is called ‘Foundations’, Book Two is called ‘Bread for the Wilderness’ and Book Three is called ‘God Your Real Dad’. This the third book continues with the same theme of bringing pictures of scripture into memorisation. They have exactly the same structure, both having parent and student books. The student book has outlined for the child to draw and a place for the child to ‘Dialogue with God’. This is an opportunity for them to journal anything that that verse might have spoken to them about.

Description

Most of us want a memory bank of Scriptures, but we just cannot seem to make the words “stick.” This book is designed to help ease the “brain pain” of memorizing. And, most importantly, it allows everyone to experience the amazing power of God’s “implanted word” (which modifies behaviour. See Psalms 119:11 and James 1:21). God commanded all believers, “Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly” (Col. 3:16). With this book you will find Scripture memorization fun and easy.

The process is simple: 1. Read the select Scripture 2 or 3 times. 2. Draw the Power Symbols (on the dotted line drawing provided) as shown on the illustration. 3. Close your eyes to “see” the image you have just drawn and repeat the Scripture.

These two books are also published by “Picture Smart! Ministries’ and are in A4 format. They are books that have been developed to help people to memorise the Word of God to “..get the Word of God into people so that He can get into them.”
