The narrative which is written in this booklet is an example that God hears and answers prayer. He is also a God with eyes running to and fro throughout the whole earth. He takes notice of all our actions and therefore shall never leave sin unpunished. Our way of living should never be a careless matter.
You will read herein of a youth who left his parental home to go into the world which caused his father and mother great grief. Thereby he became a transgressor of the fifth commandment. Indeed, the Lord will visit this sin. When the world seems to be so pleasant, sin is very bitter and it is a great benefit if we are convicted of this by the Lord. May we with grief and sadness confess, hate and forsake sin. This happened with the youth in this narrative. He did return to his parental home with repentance and sorrow, but only after his father had died from sorrow and grief. His mother persevered in prayer, pleading with the Lord if He would return her child. She petitioned God that if her child was living in sin, that God would watch over him for his welfare.
In this, boys and girls, you can see what a great privilege it is if we have God-fearing parents, a praying father or mother. We should greatly appreciate this, especially in these days when the world draws, with all its desires. The same God Who lived in the time of the original writing of this story still lives. The same God says: “To him that ordereth his conversation aright will I show the salvation of God.”
