Science in the Beginning is the first book in a hands-on, multilevel elementary science series that introduces scientific concepts using history as its guide. The beginning of history is given in the Bible’s creation account, and this book uses the days of creation as a way of introducing a wide range of scientific concepts including the nature of:

Book Review

This little book was written over a hundred years ago so you can just imagine the gems that is contained within. In fact, there are so many wonderful gems that I believe it should be called ‘Gems on Child Training’. Within the book you will find training on a child’s appetite, how to train our children’s faith, how to help them in courtesy and self-denial and so much more.

But it’s very, very good solid, sound advice that is all biblically based. So you can’t go wrong with that. People that have read this book have found that its actually changed their thinking regarding the training of their children.

Although there are many books out there on child training, this is the only ‘specifically’ child training book that we have in Oikos, simply because we have found its value to be of such great worth.

I’d like to introduce to you two very dear people, Raymond and Dorothy Moore. They were hugely instrumental in the pioneering days of home education (Homeschooling) in America. Book Review

I wrote this book in hope that it will reveal Jesus being the author, perfecter and finisher of our faith. To illustrate this in a small way, I’d like to just read a little bit out of the book for you. It’s from chapter 5, called “Panic or pray”.

“Trauma used to seize me so dramatically that I would be weakened by it to the point of helplessness and despair. Slowly I’ve learnt that trauma can be a mighty strengthening time of growth and opportunity to utterly submit to Jesus. I remember when our little 18 month old son, Jamie, woke one morning completely paralysed. This would be a good enough reason for me to fall into a state of utter panic and uselessness. Instead, God has shown me how to seize each of these such moments and turn them to Him immediately. Sadly, this is not always an automatic response of our human nature as I have learnt many times before. Yet God is patient with my failings and He gently guides me through each struggle. And as He does, we discover His perfectness in each situation when we focus on Him.”

I’d also like to just read a bit of the back cover to you which was written by our pastor, Jonathan Leach.
